Circulation
Materials from the library’s collections are available for loan to library members. Please see HELU’s Loan Policy. Bibliographic records of all materials can be searched using the library’s Online Catalog.
Research
HELU staff assists in formulating research strategies and compiling bibliographies for varied topics. Some topics may be detailed and require extensive research, therefore it is incumbent on the user to contact us in a timely manner.
Document Delivery
The HELU provides document delivery via both print and electronic copies.
Print – search the HELU online catalogues and generate a bibliography, visit or contact the HELU for selected titles.
Electronic - search the online catalogue and periodical contents pages, select the desired titles and either visit or contact the HELU.
Digitization
Selected periodical articles and short items are digitized and downloaded or emailed to patrons in pdf format upon request. Please see Digitization Policy.
E-services
Online Catalogue – online access to books and other items are available in the HELU.
EBSCO Host – covers business, health, education, general science, and biographies (available only within the HELU precincts).
Habitat International - covers urban and rural human settlements: their planning, design, production and management, urbanisation in the developing world and urban issues such as policy and implementation, the links between planning, building and land, finance and management, urban design, the interaction between the natural environment and urban areas, the provision of urban services and other related problems.
JSTOR – offers scholarly journals across the humanities, social sciences and sciences.
Business Monitor International - offers global Country Risk, Financial Markets, Industry and Company Intelligence, Analysis, Data and Forecasts.
Current Awareness/ Selected Dissemination of Information
The contents’ pages of new periodical issues are digitized and uploaded as a full-text pdf document on the intranet and website. Selected articles are sent to patrons (for official use) upon request.
A current list of all new materials acquired by the library is available on the intranet and website and is emailed to staff members periodically.
