THE LAND SETTLEMENT AGENCY UPGRADES INFRASTRUCTURE IN SEVERAL COMMUNITIES
Land Settlement Agency (LSA) improves living conditions and regularizes the land tenure of families living on scheduled sites in accordance with Act 25 of 1998. The programme provides electricity, roads, street lighting and drainage to communities, as well as sewage treatment solutions and formal land tenure documents to families. Over the period August to October, 2011, the LSA upgraded the following sites, as it remains committed to developing sustainable and wholesome communities.
Retrench Village, San Fernando
The Retrench Village, San Fernando site comprises of approximately two (2) acres consisting of (18) lots and (12) structures. These lands are former Caroni (1975) Limited and are located along the Solomon Hochoy Highway obliquely opposite the Retrench/Golconda HDC development.
This site was deemed an early and emergency works project which include the construction of 163 meters of roadway comprising of oil sand base as well as invert drainage. Mobilization and site works were completed in 2 weeks time.
Many residents welcomed the development of better roads and improved drainage as the community was plagued with inadequate drainage and poor roads over the past years. To date, residents are proud to know that they have the opportunity of receiving improved amenities and lot identification is currently in process.
