Forestry
The Forestry Division of the Ministry has lead responsibility for managing the nation’s forest estate, including reforestation works. In pursuing this mandate the Division implements and facilitates a number of reforestation initiatives based on established policy guidelines and management objectives
The National Reforestation and Watershed Rehabilitation Programme (NRWRP) – which functions independently of the Forestry Division, executing its works through community groups located throughout Trinidad and Tobago. Its goal – to improve the nation’s forest stock by engaging in reaforestation exercises at sites severely affected by forest fires. They also lend technical assistance to NGOs and CBOs as well as assist them in implementing, monitoring and coordinating (of) reforestation activities.
